ABOUT US
Welcome to the Amnesty UWA family-or as we call it, the FAMnesty!

This year, we've been hard at work to continue ensuring Amnesty is an inclusive and comforting place for all students on campus. Through our events, volunteering sessions and campaigns this semester we've brought light to human rights issues taking place locally and globally.

O-Week was a very successful start to the year in which we started off with our first campaign at UWA's Grand Challenges Summit where we focused on how the UN's sustainability goals and how inequalities can be reduced across areas in the economy, politics and education.

O-Day was super amazing- we got to meet and speak with so many students who were interested in human rights issues and how they can help as well as getting to know both old and new Amnesty UWA members!

Throughout the semester, we have continued to hold various campaigns and volunteering sessions including our bake sale for refugees where we raised money for CARAD, a local charitable organisation which helps newly arrived refugees, and a volunteering session in which committee and volunteers packed essential toiletry bags for the Perth Homeless Support Group
I hope all of our old and new members have enjoyed and benefited from our work this semester and we thank you for your continuous support! Keep an eye out for our upcoming events including our Human Rights on the Fringes event in week 11.

I would like to thank all of the Amnesty UWA 2022 committee members who have made this semester so worth while!! Meetings, committee bonding and Amnesty events are always so meaningful and wholesome and that wouldn't be possible without the people who contribute their time to the FAMnesty.
